Statesboro police are investigating a collision between a car and a pedestrian that occurred on July 15.

It happened at about 10:05 p.m. at the intersection of Lanier Drive and Veterans Memorial Parkway.

The teen suffered serious injuries and was flown to Memorial University Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition. The victim died at about 1:45 p.m. Wednesday.

The teen's family says the driver didn't stop but then turned around and came back a short time later. The family says they can't understand why the driver has not been charged.

"Right is right and wrong is wrong, especially when it comes down to a child. That man is not supposed to be walking free to this day, he is supposed to be behind bars," said the victim's aunt.

"He had a lot of head trauma to the brain. Swelling. A lot of fractures. He was in a bad situation," said Elizabeth Mack, victim's mother.
