A Savannah businessman who was found Tuesday morning in a lot near 61st and Abercorn appears to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Savannah-Chatham Metro Police.
Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Violent Crimes detectives on Tuesday found a pistol hidden in a bamboo thicket on a lot where patrol officers found the body of 50-year-old Christopher Mayville.
More tests still need to be completed in the death investigation.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab is conducting an autopsy. A final determination will not be made until it is completed, according to police.
