RINCON, GA (WTOC) -

Eight people have been arrested after an overnight prostitution sting conducted by the Effingham County Sheriff's Office and Rincon Police Department.

The investigation stems from complaints and tips about prostitution occurring in the area. Undercover agents met several prostitutes and pimps at a local motel where they were all taken into custody, according to the Effingham County Sheriff's Office.

Undercover investigators contacted either the pimp or prostitute. The probe involved suspects offering their services for a set price and then meeting at a specific place where they were arrested.

William Brown, 27, of Jasper, Fla.; Jasmyne Miller, 19, of Valdosta; and Lakeith Hudson, 25, of Jacksonville, were arrested and charged with pimping and pandering.

Donna Doe, 25, of Savannah; Amanda Day, 18, of Cary, N.C.; and Ashley Carter, 23, of Jacksonville, Fla.; and Amber Carter, 18, of Springfield, were charged with prostitution.

Michael Pierre, 35, of Garden City, was charged with pimping, pandering, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Pierre has a long criminal history that includes robbery and assault with a deadly weapon, according to the sheriff's office.

They are being held at the Effingham County Jail.

"Investigators from the Effingham County Sheriff's Office and the Rincon Police Department will continue these types of stings if they continue to occur in our community," said Sheriff Jimmy McDuffie and Rincon Police Chief Mike Bohannon in a statement.
