SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A woman is facing multiple charges after punching a middle school basketball coach in the face.

Police say Nakiea Hampton, 31, struck Southwest Middle School basketball coach, Brad Crow, in the face with her fist injuring his nose and lip. Authorities say Crow accidentally hit Hampton's son, an eighth grader, in the face with a basketball during practice. Police say the boy called his mother after the incident and that's when Hampton confronted the coach at the school hitting him in the face.

"This is an unfortunate situation. The coach is doing fine. He's back coaching the kids and back working at the school," says Savannah Chatham schools public information officer, Kurt Hetager.

School officials say Hampton left the school before campus police arrived. She was later arrested and charged with battery on a school personnel, which is a felony, and disorderly conduct, among other charges.

Hampton was arraigned in court and bond was set at $5,000. A preliminary hearing will be set at a later time.
