BRUNSWICK, GA (WTOC) -

A New Jersey man was arrested on Thursday afternoon in connection with a pharmacy robbery in Brunswick.

Brunswick police said that Jonathan Philip Fulford, 24, of Cape May, NJ, went into a CVS Pharmacy at 1709 Gloucester St. and went behind counter of the pharmacy department wearing a hoodie and mask over his face.

Fulford told the pharmacy workers that he had a gun and demanded Oxycontin, according to Brunswick police. A pharmacy worker put nine bottles of Oxycontin into his wool hat. Fulford then tried to run out the front door when he was confronted by two off-duty Brunwick police officers Pfc. Donald Babbin and Sgt. Anthony Smith, according to police.

The officers Fulford apprehended him after a short struggle. He was then taken to the Glynn County Detention Center.
