Savannah-Chatham
Metropolitan Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a car and
driver that struck a patrolman and a traffic accident Feb. 16.
Around
4 p.m., Officer Michael Swords was helping to push a disabled car away from an
accident at Hampton St. and Habersham St. when a car that was turning from
Hampton St. headed southbound on Habersham St. ran over his leg.
Southside
Fire emergency medical technicians treated the Southside Precinct officer at
the scene and he was taken to a hospital for additional treatment. His wounds
were not considered serious.
The
officer was not able to see the vehicle that struck him because several cars
were driving through the congested area at the time. Police suspect that
drivers passing through saw the accident.
Police
are asking Anyone with information to call
Crimestoppers at 912.234.2020 or text CRIMES (274637). In the body type,
include "CStop2020" plus the tip. Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for
