HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) -
Students in Beaufort County took to the stage to get ready for a big debut this week.
Hilton Head Prep students are rehearsing their lines and kicking up their feet for their annual spring musical, "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels." Performing Arts Director Ben Wolfe says these kids have been working over ten hour days this week, as they begin final preparations for opening night. One of the play's leads, senior Tyler Williams has never been in a play or musical before and says he has a whole new respect for the production process.
"It's unbelievable to watch a play and then to see it from behind the scenes and all the work that goes into it. I have an unbelievable new respect for people that do these over and over and over again," said Tyler Williams who plays Freddy Benson in the production.
There are 27 cast members and more than 15 technical crew members who are all students at Hilton Head Prep.
The play opens Thursday at Hilton Head Island High School's Auditorium. There will be shows Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. with an encore on Sunday at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students and can be purchased in advance or at the door.
