SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
Savannah Technical College chose four outstanding students as finalists for the annual Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership. The students were nominated for having excelled in academic and leadership accomplishments. The winner of the event was announced Thursday and they will go on to compete regionally. The winners from the regional contest will compete to represent the state for the next year.
"All four of the finalists are very good students and I think that the judges selected a very good winner for us this year. I feel very confident this year that we may bring home both the Rick Perkins Award and the GOAL Award," said Laurie Harrington, Savannah Technical Institute.
The GOAL winner, Kathryn Hoyt, will receive a $500 scholarship and a designated parking spot for the rest of the year.
