OCR approves Shell Point Elementary School closure

BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) -

Students and parents have waited for months on a decision about Shell Point Elementary School and on Feb. 7, they got one.

Even though they fought since August, the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights approved the Beaufort County School District's decision to close the school for the 2012-2013 school year.

Students enrolled this year will now head to other schools in the district. The school district made the decision back in August but needed the OCR's approval before getting the go ahead.
