GARDEN CITY, GA (WTOC) -
Savannah Mayor
Edna Jackson stopped by Groves High School Monday to take part in their Living
History Program. She told stories about growing up in Savannah and joining the
civil rights movement at 9 years old. Education, her career, and life in public
office, no topics were off limits as the mayor says she hopes being open and
honest with students will help them learn some life lessons.
"It is good to
tell your story so maybe one little thing can make one child realize they can
be anything they want to be. This class was very attentive. They asked some
very good questions and I was happy to get them," said Mayor Jackson.
Each interview,
including Mayor Jackson's, is recorded. The information will be used along with
other notable Savannah public figures as part of a project that high school
students across the area hope to turn into a stage production.
