Pilates is a body sculpting process that is ideal for whittling down your waistline and love handles with little impact on the joints.
In this week's Fit Club, we visit Pilates of Savannah at Fitness One, where pilates is taking toning and muscle burn to a whole new level.
"Joseph Pilates started this for soldiers who couldn't get out of bed," said Kendall Encinas. "When you look at it, you get to do most of your exercises in a comfortable position, laying down."
Because pilates has no impact, anyone can do it.
"It creates that dancer's body a lot of people are looking for; it's long, lean, tone muscles," said Encinas.
The Reformer is a famous pilates apparatus designed to tone and strengthen the muscles.
"We have spring system, where we can change the tension and by changing the tension it can put the focus on different muscle groups," said Encinas.
Pilates helps build strong muscles without bulking up, it heightens body awareness, promotes flexibility, and it a total body workout.
"When you come into these classes, they are about an hour long, and you can expect to see long, lean muscles, nice core strength and improved posture," said Encinas.
