VIDALIA, GA (WTOC) -

Police tell WTOC they discovered a body inside a car left on the side of the road. Vidalia Police Chief Frank Waits tells WTOC the father of a young man missing from Treutlen County called police Wednesday morning and said he'd found his son's car on Orange Street near the intersection with Cadillac Drive.

"An officer went there and met him, saw a small amount of blood in the car," Waits explained. "When the officer triggered the trunk release, he saw a body wrapped in some sort of white sheet."

Waits said detectives and GBI agents had not determined whether or not the body was that of the car's owner. Waits said they currently do not believe the person was killed where the body was found. The car was first noticed on the roadside Tuesday evening, but presumed to be broken down.

Anyone with information about the case, is asked to call police at 912.537.4123.
