Along with our two-state YMCA branches, the Boys and Girls Clubs of America throughout our area have historically made a world of difference in the lives of young people. To help pay tribute to that positive impact through the years, Savannah's Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club Alumni Association held its 8th Annual Meritorious Service Awards banquet this past week-end. Said Raymond Rouse: "Frank Callen now has men and women all over the country who've gone on to college, earned degrees, are now working in careers, who've come back to honor those people and organizations who supported the Club, remembering still, that when they needed help back then, somebody was always there ready to do so." Among those receiving a Meritorious Service Award this year… The Cathedral Of Saint John The Baptist.
Our thanks to those alumni who came home to remember. Special thanks to all those who supported the work of the Club back then, and to those who do so today. And congratulations to the staff and participants at Savannah's Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club, along with all other BGC's in Georgia and South Carolina, for the vital work being done daily, to help build the right foundation for our young people, the positive start they need, to sustain their personal and professional growth, and achievement, for a life-time.
