Kudos to those who risk their lives to fight fires.  Georgia acknowledged the role and heroism of the state's firefighters last week with a special recognition day in Atlanta.  Georgia Governor Nathan Deal was on hand to present special honors for heroic deeds, which proudly included, Savannah firemen Brian Stafford and Justin Crain, and fire captains Paul Phillips and Michael Taylor, all of whom, ignoring their own safety, had previously rushed into a fire scene to make life-saving rescues.  Said Captain Taylor:  "We don't do this job because we're looking for recognition.  We do it because we love our job and we love to help people."

Our sincere thanks, along with that of this, and our surrounding two-state communities, to all firefighters, urban, rural or forest, full-time or volunteer, who dedicate their time, skill, courage, and sometimes, unfortunately, their very lives to protect and save our own.  Thank you, brave men and women.  We have endless respect and admiration for all that you do to preserve our property, and our lives.
