Melanie joined the WTOC News team in May 2001 as a news producer. She's currently the Anchor of The News On Saturday and Sunday Evenings. She is also a general assignment and medical reporter for the evening news, and fill-in Weather Forecaster for the morning and weekend news shows. Melanie also produces the Sunday evening shows.
Melanie's been a part of the WTOC SkyTrak Weather team since 2002. She's always had a passion for tracking weather conditions and is grateful to have the opportunity to work with one of the best weather teams in the Southeast.
Melanie's been interested in the news business since she was 13. She interned at two major television stations in Atlanta, and was hooked on the broadcast industry.
She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Georgia in 2000 (GO DAWGS!) with an ABJ degree in broadcast journalism. Melanie landed her first TV job at a small cable station right after college, starting in production and working her way up to the coveted anchor position. She then made a jump to Savannah, and hasn't looked back since.
Outside of work, Melanie enjoys spending time with her dog, Chance. She loves watching Georgia football (GO DAWGS!), spending time outdoors, working out, dancing, shopping, going to church, and spending time with friends. Melanie also loves visiting her parents and two sisters any time she can! She has three nieces: Kaitlyn, Jenna, Lindsey ( aka "munchkins"), and an "honorary" niece, Catherine, she loves and adores very much!!!!
Melanie also enjoys volunteering in the community. She loves living in Savannah, meeting people, and telling their stories. Feel free to drop her a line any time!
