Savannah's City Market welcomes an exciting and unique new neighbor. The Mighty 8th Air Force Museum in Pooler has just opened a welcome center in City Market for tourists and area residents alike. The center includes items from the Museum's World War II collection, videos and commemorative items for purchase. Importantly, and conveniently, visitors can also obtain tickets to see and appreciate the full Mighty 8th Museum experience, from exhibits, to incomparable artifacts, to a war-time English motif restaurant, a great Museum store, and of course, the chance to view up-close the continuing restoration of their B-17 Flying Fortress, "The City of Savannah." Our congratulations and thanks to Mighty 8th Air Force Museum CEO Henry Skipper and his terrific staff, along with the good folks at City Market, for making this downtown Museum welcome center possible. It's a fine extension and representation of the full Museum, which, by both its incomparable collection and core-educational mission, continues its service as a bona-fide national treasure.
