Many organizations have answered the call, through the years, to keep the sacrifices of our wounded and fallen service members, and heroic debt of freedom they've provided, forever in our minds. One such, established during the Iraq War, is "Hope For The Warriors," chartered to support our severely wounded warriors, along with their families, to ensure they are neither forgotten, nor their needs left unmet.
"Hope For Our Warriors" assists, not only the wounded, but also their care-givers, aimed at providing family members support and respite from the demanding task of nurturing wounded loved-ones. Scholarships are available for spouses, for education needed to develop or resume careers. And even fond wishes of our wounded may be funded. One such was granted to Georgia Army National Guard Sergeant Chris Duke, whose own life, along with his buddies, was spared when three adopted dogs stopped a homicide bomber from entering the barracks where they slept. Wounded by the blast, but alive, once home, Sergeant Duke longed to provide a better life for these canine heroes. As you'll recall from news coverage, his wish was fulfilled, made possible by Hope For The Warriors. It's a terrific feeling to help the military members and their families who have sacrificed so much to protect our freedom.
