16th annual Fred Stokes celebrity shootout and golf classic on May 19-20, 2012 at Smithfield Golf Club in Statesboro, GA. A meet and greet will take place on Friday, May 18th, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. with the golf shootout kicking off at 7:45 a.m. on Saturday, May 19th, and the tournament taking place at 7:45 a.m. on the following day, May 20th. Foster parent appreciation month There is a great need for foster parents in Coastal Georgia. When a child is removed from their home by the Division of Family and Children Services they are often placed in foster homes if a fit and willing relative can't be found. If there is not a foster home available in their home county, they often must be moved away. This further disrupts a child's life by having to change schools and leave a familiar place. This can also result in fewer visits with family members due to the relatives not having the means to travel. Food allergies Every 3 minutes a food allergy reaction sends someone to the emergency room – that is about 200,000 emergency room visits per year. Today, nearly 6 million or 8 percent of children have food allergies. Parents who have children with food allergies know the kind of stress they experience every time a child is at school, a birthday party, a restaurant or anytime they eat. It is especially stressful when their young child is not with them to monitor their food intake.
